Lady Ads beat BHS, capture 6th straight 4-AAA title
Farragut takes 3rd in 15-team Sunset volleyball tourney

Make it six straight District 4-AAA regular season volleyball titles in “Mooresville.”

David Moore’s Farragut Lady Admirals swept Bearden and William Blount in straight games at BHS Thursday, Oct. 2, to finish 4-AAA play 13-1 and earn a tie for first with Maryville.

Coupled with victories last week that included new neighborhood rival Hardin Valley Academy plus three wins during the inaugural Sunset Tournament at FHS and Oak Ridge Saturday, Oct. 4, and Farragut’s overall record stood at 39-5 entering the week.

Finishing third among a 15-team tourney field, FHS beat Christian Academy of Knoxville (2-0 in games), Sullivan South (2-1) and Anderson County (2-0).

“I thought the Anderson County match was probably the best match we’ve played in a couple of weeks,” coach Moore said.

The Lady Admirals met their match in Red Bank, eventual Sunset champ, losing 18-25, 25-21, 15-10. “They won their district in Chattanooga, which is always a tough district with Ooltewah down there,” Moore said of Red Bank. “I think they’re one of the better teams in the state.”

Farragut also lost to Webb in three games.

Overall for the week, “I think we played pretty well,” Moore said. “We’ve been finding ways to win. But I don’t know if we’ve been playing our best volleyball.”

To wrap up yet another 4-AAA regular season title Thursday, FHS beat Bearden 25-15, 25-18 and the Lady Govs 25-14, 25-12.

Versus the VolleyDogs, Farragut was led by Cara Gregg’s eight points, three aces, 11 kills, and Julia Mathes’ 14 points, 5 aces, 7 assists. Bearden’s top scorers against FHS were Tara Robertson (3 points, 1 ace, 2 blocks, 2 kills, 2 digs.) and Sloane Gouffon (four points, two aces, three kills, three digs).
