Bearden boys 3rd, FHS’s Newby 2nd in Furman meet


While Bearden’s boys cross country team finished third among a 45-team field from a handful of southern states at the Furman Invitational Cross Country Meet, one Farragut Lady Admiral took second.

Alex Newby’s No. 2 finish among a 282-runner, 41-team field at the Greenville, S.C. meet Saturday, Oct. 11, led FHS’s 14th-place finish (19:57). (More on the Lady Ads and BHS girls finishers later in this story)


BHS, ADMIRAL BOYS

Sam Shaughnessy’s sixth-place finish (16:58) paced the Bulldogs among a 306-runner field, followed by Tyler Freeman taking 18th (17:25), Peter Migun 31st, Drew Crawford 38 and Skyler Winchester 77th.

Farragut’s boys, securing 14th-place, was led by Kenta Nolin’s 20th-place effort (17:29). Admiral Kyle Branson was 61st while FHS teammate Conner Schwartz finished 100th.

LADY ADS, BHS GIRLS

Other Lady Admiral top 100 finishers were Peri Winborne, 74th, and Ciera Karvelas, 85th.

Pacing the BHS Lady Bulldogs’ 20th-place effort was Rebecca Stover finishing eighth (20:17).
