No. 9 FHS upsets No. 1 Oak Ridge with Brewer goal
Porter 4-goal game for No. 2 Bearden

Dennis Lindsay was quite frank about the situation at Oak Ridge Thursday night, Oct. 9, where his No. 9 Class AAA state-ranked Farragut Lady Admirals soccer team upset No. 1-ranked ORHS 1-0.

“I think the key was we were fortunate, they outplayed us,” Lindsay said, as Oak Ridge more than doubled FHS in shots-on-goal, 15-7. “We put one goal in real early and we held on.

“But it was a very big win,” he added.

Skylar Brewer’s early first-half goal, assisted by Whitney Newby, held up, as Farragut entered the week unbeaten in its last 11 games (10-0-1) while improving to 13-3-1. The Lady Wildcats fell to 15-3-1.

Defensively, Lindsay praised senior standout goalkeeper Megan Buzzeo. “She kept us in that game,” Lindsay said. “Buzzeo was the key, she made a lot of saves.”

The Lady Admirals also blanked Karns 6-0 at FHS Tuesday, Oct. 7. Details later in this story.

LADY SOCCERDAWGS ROLL

A four-goal game from senior All-state forward Amy Porter led the way as No. 2 state-ranked Bearden rolled past Greeneville 5-0 Oct. 7 at GHS.

Samantha Turner also scored for the Lady SoccerDawgs (13-2-1), while assists came from Rebecca Stover, Kirsten Bodker, Kimble Glover and Jessica Logan.

Bearden then hammered Hardin Valley Academy 8-0 Oct. 9 at Bruce Allender Field.

Senior Night at BHS, where all Lady SoccerDawg seniors are recognized, is tonight, Thursday, Oct. 16, versus Knoxville Catholic. Opening kick is 7 p.m.

FHS 6 KARNS 0

Morgan Brandon’s two goals led the way against Karns, followed by single goals from Casey Shanklin, Alyssa Dresen, Mindy Hopkins and Newby.

Ashley Reveiz led in assists with two.
