• Thompson Cancer Survival Center’s 15th annual BUDDY’S Race Against Cancer, Sunday, Nov. 16, at World’s Fair Park features a 5K Walk ‘n Run and one-mile “Walk in the Park.” Race day registration begins at 1 p.m. Activities and live entertainment by Second Opinion until 2:15 p.m. at which time a tribute to cancer survivors will begin. The 5K Walk ‘n Run and one-mile “Walk in the Park” will start at 3 p.m. Awards will be given. Proceeds benefit Thompson’s Cancer Outreach Services program. Entry fees are $30 for adults (age 19 and over), $15 for youth (age 18 and under). Registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 24. Individual participants may register until Friday, Oct. 31. • American Heart Association’s Greater Knoxville Start! Heart Walk Saturday, Nov. 15, at Krutch Park near Market Square. Non-competitive walk around downtown Knoxville begins with festivities at 9 a.m. and Start! Heart Walk at 10:30 a.m. Participants may choose either the three-mile or one-mile course.
