Lady Admirals, 47-5, again earn state volleyball trip

Farragut High School volleyball has made state tournament appearances almost a regular event this millennium.
The Lady Ads earned its fifth trip to the TSSAA Class AAA state tourney in the last seven years with a four-game match win versus Morristown East in Sectional play Thursday, Oct 23, at FHS.
State play in Murfreesboro began for FHS Wednesday, Oct. 29 (after deadline) versus Houston and Dobyns-Bennett in a four-team round-robin pool.
The Lady Ads (47-5 entering state) finish pool play today, Thursday, Oct. 30, versus Independence at 1 p.m. EDT. Semifinals and finals are Friday.
“I think we’re probably playing as well as we’ve played all year,” FHS head coach David Moore said.
Beating Morristown East 25-17, 18-25, 25-18, 25-22, Farragut was led statistically by senior outside hitter Cara Gregg with 19 kills. Kylann Scheidt, junior outside hitter/setter, added 16 kills and three aces.
Straight game sweeps of Karns in the semifinals and Oak Ridge in the finals earned Farragut the Region 2-AAA crown Tuesday, Oct. 21, at FHS. Gregg, Lebert and Julia Mathes were joined on the All-region team by MVP Scheidt.
Beating ORHS 25-21, 25-22, 25-17, the Lady Ads got 21 kills and two aces from Gregg, while Lebert added five kills and three aces and Mathes nine assists and one ace.
Defeating Karns 25-12, 25-17, 25-18, Farragut was led by Scheidt’s 16 assists, nine kills and two aces, while Natalia Hayes had seven kills, four aces and four blocks.
