• CBFO Basketball for boys and girls ages 6 to 14 will accept late registration until Christmas. For more information, call Phil Mason at 865-966-3251.

• Farragut High School Baseball team’s chili cook-off is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, in the FHS Commons, during the first-ever meeting between rivals Hardin Valley Academy and Farragut basketball teams at FHS. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door the night of the event. Proceeds benefit FHS Dugout Club field improvements and player needs. Fans also are encouraged to bring a canned food to the basketball game to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

• Farragut Middle School Boys and Girls Basketball teams will be hosting its third annual Christmas “Drop and Dine” Parents Night Out from 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, at FMS cafeteria. School will feed your child and provide games and crafts. Cost is $20 per child. For more info, call 865-207-2321.

• YWCA Knoxville will host its Annual Race Against Racism 5K Run /1 Mile Walk Saturday, Jan. 17, at YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center in East Knoxville. Sign-in and registration will begin at 11:30 a.m; race at 1 p.m. Route runs along Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and other historical markers. Day includes exhibitors, entertainment and food. Registration is $15 per person on a team of five or more, $12 per child under 15 years of age, $20 per individual before Jan. 9, and $25 thereafter. Sponsorships and donations accepted. • Local champions and top finishers during the All-American Junior Golf Tour at Willow Creek Golf Club Nov. 8-9 are: girls ages 6-8, first-place, Teleri Hughes (164); boys 6-8, second-place, Jack Smith (158), third-place, Graham Gosselin (167); boys high school, first-place, Wes Gosselin (139); second-place, Kory Webb (142); third-place, Elliot Wickenden (142); girls high school, third-place, Allie Knight (I61); fourth-place, Sara Howard (162).

• Brad Taylor, Bearden High School varsity football head coach, has been named Region 1-5A Coach of the Year. Taylor joins five Bulldogs players on the All-Region 1-5A first team — two BHS players honored at two positions: Devrin Young as a running back and defensive back and Brandon Reagan as a placekicker and punter. Other Bearden honorees were offensive tackle Forrest Young, linebacker Tanner Fine and defensive back Stefon Stephens. All-Academic 1-5A is Patrick Dalton. All-Character honorees included David Dixon. Second-team defense were defensive ends Davis Tull and Dillon Wilker, second-team offense was Fine at tight-end and guard Greg Hopkins.

• Chris Wilkes is a new wrestling assistant coach at Farragut High School. Wilkes is a former college All-American at University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and a Georgia high school state champion.

• AAU Youth wrestling signups for first grade through eighth grade will take place during Farragut Duals, a wrestling tournament beginning Saturday morning, Dec. 13, in Farragut High School’s Lynn E. Sexton Gymnasium.
