Lamon Jewelers receives ‘Federal Bureau of Affection’ title

The Federal Bureau of Affection has labeled a West Knoxville jewelry store an “appliance-free zone,” a designation to help Christmas shoppers, particularly men.

Lamon Jewelers, 7923 Kingston Pike, has been termed a safe shopping spot for men this holiday season. According to the FBA, appliance-free zones are shops that prevent men from making irresponsible Christmas purchases.

“As an appliance-free zone, any man can shop here without fear of what will happen to him on Christmas morning when she opens his gift. No disappointment. No guilt,” a release from the FBA said.

Howard Lamon, owner of Lamon Jewelers, is proud of the company’s recent designation.

“Our thought is the only thing a woman really wants that plugs in are diamond studs in her ears,” he said.

“Appliances are functional things that help a lady or a man perform various tasks, whether it be cooking or cleaning or whatever. You plug it into the socket and it functions.

“Jewelry should be caring, should be romantic. It should be loving. It’s hard to get a toaster that’s loving,” he added.

“It’s all about how you tell someone you love them,” Lamon said.

Men looking to stay out of trouble with the FBA (as well as the woman in their life) can come into Lamon Jewelers, the log cabin jewelry store.

The store specializes in wish lists: women fill out wish lists in the store and men are able to later purchase jewelry stress-free.

Lamon said the wish list system creates anticipation and encourages happiness between couples.

“The wish list works … it turns a mature lady into a little girl again,” he said.
