letters to the editor

An open letter ...

... To the teens who vandalized our home in Turkey Creek Woods in the middle of the night on the weekend of Dec. 13.

You kids broke my heart with your reckless disregard for the property and feelings of others. You may have a sense of smug satisfaction to have criminally violated our home undetected in the middle of the night, but don’t rest too easy. Although I hope you will feel guilt and remorse over the damage you caused and turn yourselves in, one way or the other, you will be apprehended.

We were greeted that Sunday morning by concerned neighbors at our front door and on the phone to alert us to the damage you did overnight. Disgusting trash strewn in our front yard. Symbols of anarchy and profanity spray-painted all over the outside of our house. We were stunned by the extent of your violent messages and hatred.

Your parents probably never even knew you were gone. So I will say to your parents: You have raised some dangerous children, neighborhood bullies with no regard for the safety and property of others. They apparently raided your pantry for eggs and condiments and your garage for spray paint. Then your Kings Gate/Turkey Creek Woods-area teen and whatever friends s/he had sleeping over that night left your house in the middle of the night on a mission of vandalism and violence. And we were their target.

Parents, please. If you are reading this, if you care - I urge you to talk to your teenagers. Question your teenagers. Supervise your teenagers, for God’s sake. This is your neighborhood, too.

Lastly, to the community, I would like to express my gratitude to our friends and neighbors who in turn expressed their outrage and selflessly offered their time and equipment to try to help obliterate the damage done to our home. Thank you. We are very grateful for your assistance, support and encouragement.

Sally Lacey

Gary offers ‘thanks’ to all ...

As my three-year term as president of Farragut Baseball, Inc. comes to a close, I have been saying “thank you” to so many people who have helped the league and supported our efforts.

Of course, it would be impossible to thank everyone, but I know many of our supporters are regular readers of the farragutpress so here goes:

Thanks to all the coaches who have volunteered to coach teams in our league.

Thanks, also, to all the assistant coaches, volunteer concessions workers and team parents.

I’d like to also express my gratitude to all the businesses in the community who have contributed to the league as team sponsors.

Also, I want to say a special “thank you” to all the parents who have been so supportive over the last three years.

Finally, I want to thank all the players. You all are the reason we do what we do and you make Farragut Baseball, Inc. such a special program.

And, I would be remiss, too, if I didn’t say “thanks” to farragutpress for all the great coverage of our league.

Again, thanks to you all and I wish everyone a safe, healthy and happy holiday season!

Jeff Gary

(Outgoing) President,

Farragut Baseball, Inc.
