Little Gym to open second Knox location
The Little Gym scheduled to open in Farragut later this month

The Little Gym will be opening its second Knoxville store in Farragut’s Brooklawn development, adjacent to Kroger Marketplace, in mid-January.

The Little Gym offers children aged 4 months to 12 years “non-competitive motor skills and gymnastics programs,” co-owner Karalyne Ley said.

“We offer classes in parent-child gymnastics, preschool and kindergarten gymnastics and grade school gymnastics.

“We also offer sports skills classes … combination dance and gymnastics classes [and] a dance class for two-year-olds as well,” she added.

Beyond classes, The Little Gym is a popular destination for parties.

“We also do birthday parties, parent survival nights. We have holiday camps and summer camps as well,” Ley said.

Farragut proved to be a central location for many of West Knoxville’s The Little Gym’s frequent customers.

“For the past two to three years, we’ve been hearing from quite a few parents saying they would love to have us out in that area,” Ley said of customers who traveled from as far away as Lenoir City, Oak Ridge and Kingston.

“That location seemed perfect for us because it had good access, from not only Interstate-40 and Campbell Station [Road], but Northshore [Drive],” she added.

“This is our fifth Little Gym, and probably our final,” Ley said of the Farragut store, scheduled to open Jan. 19, pending any unforeseen circumstances.

“We are part of an international franchise … there are about 275 Little Gyms worldwide,” Ley said of the franchise, headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“It’s a family business … we got involved in 1996,” Ley said.

Ley’s family, including her mother and father, Martha and Gerald Moore, and brother, Richard Moore, own five franchised stores in Arizona, North and South Carolina, and elsewhere in Tennessee.
