Pemberton TSWA 3A Coach of Year in state
Thirteen westside high school football players earn All-state honors


Thirteen Westside high school football players and one coach earned All-state honors as voted by Tennessee Sportwriters Association, led by Class 3A state champion Knoxville Catholic and perennial Division II-AA power Webb School of Knoxville.

Along with the Irish and Spartans each having four All-state honorees, KCHS head coach Mark Pemberton was named Class 3A Coach of the Year after leading his team to a state crown and 15-0 record.

Three Class 5A honorees are Farragut Admirals: offensive lineman Will Jackson, wide receiver Lee Van Dyne and quarterback Reese Browning.


Bearden was represented by running back Devrin Young and linebacker Tanner Fine.

Catholic’s player honorees are defensive lineman and Class 3A Mr. Football Lineman Daniel Hood, running back Jordan Howanitz, linebacker Luke Smith and defensive back Spencer Mackle.

Webb All-state selections were defensive lineman Camp Arnett, linebacker Meade Edmonds, defensive back Clark Johnson and “athlete” (running back/defensive back) Caleb Blance.
