China Pearl to be relocated by March

China Pearl, an 18-year Farragut dining destination, will be moving to a new building in the Brooklawn development.

“We’ll be moving about 20 feet to the west,” owner Sam Yap said, adding he expected the move to take place in March.

According to Kim Ramsey, with Cannon and Cannon, the move will take place to make room for additional construction off Brooklawn Street.

Another restaurant-type building, supposedly housing Bear Creek Coffee, also will be built near China Pearl’s new location.

An “extension, a kind of strip center,” will be built to the north of Kroger Marketplace, Ramsey said.

The new building’s exterior will be visually connected to the other buildings in the development, including Kroger Marketplace.

“We will have a bigger space and a new design like the rest of the shopping center. We’ll have a nice, more pretty interior,” Yap said. The new restaurant will also have additional seating.

“It’s going to be really nice when it’s done. This will finish it all out,” Ramsey said.

Once China Pearl has moved into its new home, the old building will be demolished and that space will become parking.

“We’ll be able to be open the whole time,” Yap said, except for a few days to move from the old restaurant to the new.

“We’re staying here,” he added.

Yap said he was grateful for Farragut citizen’s support of the restaurant for the past 18 years.

“We thank you all for your continued support, and we still need that continued support,” Yap said.
