Campbell Station wreck stalls traffic

A Tennessee Department of Transportation employee instructs farragutpress correspondent Adria Amos, seated in vehicle, to move her auto after an accident Monday, Feb. 22, off Campbell Station Road. Amos was driving her black Ford Taurus south on Campbell Station Road when she allegedly was struck by George Phipps of West Liberty, Ky., the driver of a maroon Ford F-250 pickup truck pulling a motor home. Phipps had left Cracker Barrel off Campbell Lakes Drive heading south at about 11:15 a.m., and was in the turn-lane attempting to merge right, when he allegedly made an illegal turn, crossing two lanes of traffic and struck Amos’ vehicle, dragging her onto the median at Pilot off Campbell Station Road. “I didn’t see her,” Phipps told Knox County Sheriff’s Officer J.D. Ferguson. No injuries have been reported.
