FHS grad to open JCPenney

JCPenney will be opening its newest stand-alone store, with a Sephora boutique, 11534 Parkside Drive, Friday, March 6.

For store manager Tracey Hitson, a Farragut High School graduate, the move to Turkey Creek is like coming home.

“Thirty years later, I’m back home,” Hitson said.

“I started right out of high school with the company, and continued through college. And I just fell in love with the company, fell in love with the family atmosphere and environment,” she added.

“The J.-C. Penney Company is very, very happy to be in the Turkey Creek environment and in Farragut.

“This store is so beautiful, and to be able to be the store manager … I’m thrilled,” Hitson said.

As part of its grand-opening celebration, JCPenney’s after-school fund will present a $5,000 check to Westside Family Center and provide five $50 gift cards to the local YMCA to help students purchase school apparel.

“We’re very, very big advocates on after-school activities and programs.”

About 2,000 square feet of the 104,000 square-foot store is devoted to a Sephora boutique, with beauty consultants trained in “the science of Sephora.”

Although the makeup mecca doesn’t carry its entire line of products in the JCPenney boutique, it offers its most popular makeup, skincare, fragrance and accessories.

JCPenney also carries its exclusive American Living chain, created for the company by Ralph Lauren. The American Living collection includes fashions for men, women, children and home.

“American Living is in every department … it is made by the Ralph Lauren company for JCPenney exclusively,” Hitson said.

“It’s got that classic American styling, a lot of red, white and blue coloration. It’s a real classic, classic look,” she added.

JCPenney also provides its normal department store services, including a portrait studio, custom decorating services and a full-service salon.

Customers can place or pick up orders from Internet and catalog purchases at the store’s service desk.

“This is everything we do, all in one store,” Hitson said.

JCPenney’s Turkey Creek location will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
