• Knox County Schools will host the following three public forums in March to gather public comment concerning development of the school system strategic plan and the budget for fiscal year 2010: Budget Forum beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 5, at Bearden High School; Strategic Plan Forum beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, at West High School and another Budget Forum beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 12, at Central High School. • Sacred Heart Cathedral School currently is accepting applications for kindergarten through eighth-grade for the 2009-2010 school year.  For more information, visit  www.shcschool.org or schedule a school tour at 865-558-4136.

• Belmont University announces Lindsey Ricker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ricker and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Monger, all of Farragut, has been named to its Fall 2008 Dean’s List. Eligibility is based on a minimum 12-hour course load and a quality grade-point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C. Lindsey is majoring in business marketing and also has been selected as a member of Belmont College of Business Student Advisory board.

• Ashland University announces Candace Reid, daughter of William and Veronica Reid, has been included as a member of its National Society of Minorities in Hospitality. Society is a non-profit organization that strives to promote diversity in the workplace.  Members work to educate and aid in the recruitment, retention, support and advancement of minority students in the hospitality industry. 

• Pellissippi State Technical Community College currently is accepting books, CDs, DVDs, videos, vinyl records, computer games and puzzles for its annual book sale in March. Drop-off points are set up on the Pellissippi Campus, 10915 Hardin Valley Road, at the following locations: Faculty Lounge, third floor, McWherter Building; Business and Computer Technology workroom, Room 252, McWherter Building and Room 219, Alexander Building. Blount County residents may leave donated items at the main office of the Blount County Center. For more information, call 865-539-7316.

• Belmont University announces Emily Moore, daughter of John and Susan Moore of Farragut, has qualified for its fall 2008 Dean’s List. Emily is majoring in exercise science and minoring in music. A member of Belmont University Orchestra, Emily plays cello and is involved in campus outreach. Eligibility for list is based on a course load of 12 hours and a quality grade-point average of 3.5 with no grade below C.

• Roane State Community College will host the following group advising session for students interested in nursing: Tuesday, March 24 and Tuesday, April 21. Room O-106 in the O’Brien Humanities Building on Roane County Campus — from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 25 and Wednesday, April 22. Each session will cover the same information.
