Northeast is ’Dawgs’ first state opponent

Seeking the program’s first-ever basketball state championship, Bearden takes a 35-2 record and No. 1 state ranking into the Boys Class AAA State Tournament in Murphy Center, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, beginning today, Thursday, March 19.
Clarksville-based Northeast (26-6) is the Bulldogs’ quarterfinal round opponent beginning at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. CDT) Thursday, March 19.
A BHS win sends Bearden into semifinal action versus the Memphis White Station (28-7)-Chattanooga Red Bank (20-14) winner, with opening tip-off set for 7:45 p.m. (6:45 CDT), Friday, March 20.
Title game begins at 7 p.m. (6 p.m. CDT), Saturday, March 21, pitting the Bulldogs’ side of the bracket against one of these four: Walker Valley of Cleveland (33-1), Johnson City Science Hill (31-4), Memphis Raleigh Egypt (33-2) or Henderson-ville Beech (29-4).
