Perfect Irish earn prize

How the West Was Won sponsor Tilley-Lane Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep representative Jay Tilley, left, presents the farragutpress How the West Was Won trophy to Knoxville Catholic “Fighting Irish” coach Mark Pemberton in recognition of the team’s having the best regular-season record (10-0) in 2008. Knox Catholic’s record bested those of Farragut, Bearden, Christian Academy of Knoxville and Webb School of Knoxville high schools’ records. The Irish went on to win out its playoff bracket and take home the state 3-A championship. The How the West Was Won traveling award was presented during the annual Irish football banquet Sunday, March 22, held at the school’s Fox Lonas campus. Keynote speaker at the event was The University of Tennessee former head football coach Phillip Fulmer. For more, see story on page 15.
