• Farragut High School will hold KAPOW — Klean Area Paint Overhaul and Weed — from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 28. Parents, teachers and students are asked to participate. Students can use this time for community service hours. For more information, call the school office at 865-966-9775.

• Farragut Intermediate School PTA will sponsor its Spring Clothing Drive through March 27. Gently used spring clothes will be donated to Knox County Clothing Center and will be distributed to students of Knox County who are in need of clothing. Donation bins will be located in the school lobby.

• The next Farragut High School newcomers meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 9, at Pimento’s Café.

•Dr. Jim McIntyre , superinten-dent of the Knox County Schools will host the third of three public forums to discuss the school system’s budget development for fiscal year 2010 beginning at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, in the Fulton High School auditorium. Fulton High School is located at 2509 N. Broadway.

• Pellissippi State Technical Community College’s Support Staff Council will host a fundraising sale from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 30, and Friday, May 1, in the Goins Building on its Hardin Valley campus, to raise money for its Support Staff Dollars for Scholars program. Faculty, staff, students and the community are invited to donate items. For more information, call 865-539-7037.

• Kim Shook recently was nominated for the Joyce Maienschein Outstanding Graduating Senior Award. Kim will be honored at the Girl Scout Gala at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 4, at Knoxville Civic Auditorium.

• Roane State Community College’s Oak Ridge campus will host the ninth annual “Love Your Library” used book sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8. Sale will include paperback nand hardback books, audiocassettes, videotapes and magazines. Proceeds support the campus’s Coffey Library. Items will be on sale in the atrium in front of the library. Community members who would like to donate items for the sale need to bring items to the Coffey Library by April 6. The campus is located at 701 Briarcliff Ave. in Oak Ridge. • Pellissippi State Technical Community College will host an Adjunct Faculty Job Fair from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, in the Goins Administration Building on its Hardin Valley Campus to recruit part-time faculty for fall semester. Faculty are needed for more than 30 content areas, ranging from art and history to management and sociology. For spefic requirements, call 865-694-6607.

• Roane State Community College Music Department and Roane State Foundation will present the annual Louis Hughes Memorial Organ Scholarship Recital at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 19, at First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. A reception will follow the recital. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted for the Hughes fund. Recitalists are Roane State organ students Mikeong Kim, winner of the Louis Hughes Memorial Organ Scholarship; Frederick Pogue, organist at First Christian Church in Rockwood and Cathy Whitten, organist at Grace Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge. • Farragut High School announces senior Rachel Natzke has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country and was presented by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. 

• Farragut High School will hold registration and general information meetings on the following dates: Beginning at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 26, in FHS Main Auditorium, Rising 10th-Grade Registration Information Meeting for parents; beginning at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 26, in FHS Commons, Rising 11th-Grade Registration Information Meeting for parents and beginning at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 26, in FHS Library, Rising 12th-Grade Registration Information Meeting for parents. • Hardin Valley Academy PTSA is in the process of planning “My Amazing Life,” a life-size version of the board game LIFE. Program is an interactive, real-life way for students to experience life on a budget and the financial constraints of life in the real world. For a nominal fee community business are invited to join. • The next Hardin Valley Academy Hawkeye Vision Luncheon is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, March 30, at Don Gallo’s Restaurant off Hardin Valley Road. Guest Speaker is to be announced.
