‘Seal’ing the deal ... part 1

The town of Farragut bought the 26 acres of McFee Park property in 1995; in 1998, a citizen’s committee was formed to oversee the master plan of the park. The ribbon-cutting celebrated completion of Phase 1, which included part of a walking trail, two athletic fields, parking lot and restrooms. “I can’t think of a better use for this property,” Seal said. Seal also was owner of the “Seal property” the Board of Mayor and Aldermen recently voted 4-1 to purchase for $1.25 million. Voting for the purchase were Mayor Ford, Aldermen Rosseel, LaMarche and Dr. John Williams. Haynes was the lone dissenting vote. According to Town records, discussions between Town staff and members of the Board concerning the Seal property and its purchase $1.25 million price began as early as 2005.
