Muddy soccer at BHS Invitational
‘Great’ FHS week tamed by 0-0 tie with Hendersonville

While Farragut soccer’s scoreless tie with perennial Class AAA power Hendersonville kept FHS’s unbeaten season alive, it hardly pleased the Admirals skipper.

“We played excellent the first two days, but we just came out here a little bit asleep,” FHS head coach Wallie Culbreth said of Sunday’s 0-0 game at the Farragut Intermediate School “practice field,” the final of three Bearden Invitational games last weekend.

“We just did not play up to our potential.” Farragut enters the week at 5-0-2.

“But we played great in this tournament,” Culbreth added. “Ryan Stinton, Trevor Grieco and Angus MacLellan had a great tournament. I’ve got a lot of hope for this team.

“I think we’ll go a long way this year.”

While beating Notre Dame Saturday, March 28, the Admirals opened Bearden Invitational play with a 4-0 blanking of Morristown West Friday, March 27. Stinton and Grieco each scored two goals, while Grieco and Carlos Ramos assisted.

“The exciting thing is this Friday at Bearden,” Culbreth added about Farragut’s Friday, April 3, trip to Bearden’s Bruce Allender Field for a 7 p.m. opening kickoff versus the archrival Bulldogs (5-0-1).

“We’re all ready for that.”
