Chamber fund-raiser April 24

Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual auction and dinner, themed “Hometown USA,” at 6 p.m., Friday, April 24, at Rothchild Catering and Conference Center.

“Come one, come all, come home for a fun night,” Bettye Sisco, Chamber president and CEO, said.

“Last year we did ‘Around the World,’ and we just came home this year. We thought it was an appropriate time to support and talk about our own United States,” she added.

The auction and dinner benefits Chamber functions and services, as well as a designated charity each year.

“It benefits our continuing education program … and also helps support the Chamber and its functions, as well as [Concord Adult Day Enrichment Services],” Sisco said.

The continuing education program allows Chamber members to pursue further education in their fields through grants of up to $500.

A portion of the ticket proceeds, $1 per ticket, goes to CADES, a ministry of Concord United Methodist Church focusing on senior adult care.

“We pick a different charity every year; this year we chose CADES,” Sisco said.

“We felt it would be a good time to support the more mature generation, our parents, because we’ve had a lot of people go through a lot of issues with their parents this year,” she added.

Items up for auction include a set of Michelin tires, dinner for 10 at Bonefish Grill, an autographed basketball from The University of Tennessee wo-men’s head head basketball coach Pat Summitt, Soo Cha artwork, jewelry designed by Rick Terry, and various weekend get-aways and restaurant gift certificates ... and Robert Tino prints.
