GCR utility poles upgraded for Turkey Creek

Grigsby Chapel Road residents may have noticed the installation of new double, or two-tiered steel poles in place of wooden ones.

“We’re building another circuit up to help feed the Turkey Creek development,” Jay Hines, Lenoir City Utilities Board electrical engineer, said.

“The existing line is just too small, so we’re just upgrading it from one to two,” he added.

The new poles only will reach down Grigsby Chapel to Fretz Road, where LCUB has a substation.

“It’s just from Fretz Road up to Campbell Station,” Hines said.

In other business, LCUB:

• Approved a bid from CB Construction Company for the installation of directionally bored conduit

• Approved by resolution the Tennessee Municipal League Adden-dum 1, an ethics policy, which will become a part of the updated interlocal cooperation agreement as required by Tennessee Ethics Reform Act of 2006

• Approved the purchase of 40 galvanized steel poles from HD Supply in the amount of $72,268

• Approved a professional geotechnical engineering contract for Foundation Systems Engineering, PC, for wastewater treatment plant improvements

• Hired two water, gas and sewer servicemen apprentices, a senior custodian, a custodian and a telephone operator
