Turtlehead’s Tea to close

Turtlehead’s Tea and Coffee Company will be closing its doors after more than two years in Farragut.

“We’re very sad. We loved it here … everybody was so nice,” Jan Miller, co-owner, said.

The tea and coffee shop, 11130 Kingston Pike, Suite 2, will close by the end of June.

“We are products of the economic times. We simply couldn’t continue to stay in business and deliver the same quality of products,” Tamara, Jan’s daughter and business co-owner, said.

“We did everything we possibly could to keep ourselves open and it wasn’t a lack of people coming in, or lack of people being supportive.

“We have wonderful customers and lots of people coming in and discovering us. The people of Farragut were incredible,” Tamara added.

Jan and Tamara will be offering sales on items throughout the store, on everything from tea and coffee to the store’s custom-made shelving and even the iconic neon turtle sign in the front window.

“Until Friday, May 29, we have the ability for all of our loyal customers, or … whoever wants to come in, to come in and do special orders,” Tamara said.

“You may order one full pound of [the same type of] tea or three full pounds of [the same type of] coffee, that’s the minimum … and you get a 10 percent discount,” she added.

The special orders would be available for pick-up around mid-June.

“Everything else in the store is 20 percent off,” Tamara said.

“And in addition to all of that, we are selling all of the custom-made wooden fixtures … selling the countertops … the computers, the neon turtle signs out front that everyone loves.

“We’re selling everything down to the flooring,” she added.

The Millers plan on leaving the Farragut area after the business closes.

“We just want to really thank the wonderful support from our wonderful customers in Farragut. And we are truly going to miss them and just miss this experience,” Jan said.

“They made our dream a reality,” Tamara said.
