Committee positions filled

Farragut’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen decided on appointments to nine volunteer committees at its meeting Thursday, June 11.

• The Board reappointed Bob Frear, Bob Hill and James Loar to the Stormwater Advisory Committee: Frear and Loar to two-year terms and Hill to an unexpired one-year term. The committee can have up to seven members, but has fairly stringent regulations on member qualifications. The Town is looking for additional volunteers for this committee.

• The Board reappointed Linda Johnson, Marty Layman and Terri Leland, and appointed Noah Myers and Catherine Herod to Visual Resources Review Board. Each of the appointees will serve two-year terms. The committee has nine members.

“I’d like to see business represented on V-R-R-B,” Mayor Ralph McGill said.

• The Board reappointed David Rodgers and appointed Theodore J. Scotes to the Farragut Board of Zoning Appeals. Scotes replaced McGill for the Mayor’s unexpired one-year term. Rodgers was appointed to a five-year term. The committee has five members.

• The Board reappointed Chris L. Duncan and Gary Edsell and appointed Mark Lower to the Farragut Board of Plumbing and Gas Mechanical Examiners. Duncan and Edsell will serve three-year terms; Lower will serve a one-year unexpired term.

• The Board reappointed Clare Ansink, Gerry Gennoe, Kathy Pierre, Rosaline Slater and Mabel Sumner, and appointed Rhoda Brock to Farragut Beautification Committee. Brock will serve a one-year unexpired term; the other appointees will serve two-year terms.

• The Board reappointed Mary Agnes Schaefer and Carlyle Urello to Farragut Arts Council for two-year terms. The committee has no limit on possible members.

• The Board reappointed Libbie Haynes, Bob Linsell, John Hoffman and Mona Smith and appointed Louis LaMarche, Joyce Moran and Joseph Vogt to Farragut Folklife Museum Committeee. All appointees will serve two-year terms. The committee has 15 members.

• The Board reappointed Loretta Bradley and appointed Richard DuByne to Farragut Parks and Athletics Council; each will serve a two-year term. The Town is looking for additional volunteers for this committee.

• The Board reappointed Gary Schmitz, Regina Foy and John Underwood to the Personnel Committee for two-year terms. The committee currently is full at six members, but Vice Mayor Dot LaMarche and Alderman Bob Markli moved that the Board also look at a text amendment to make the number of members on this committee seven.

That was part of a “subject to” clause in a motion also to appoint Cornell Ward, a new applicant, to the Personnel Committee.
