Campbell Station Road to partially close July 20

The entrance road to Farragut High School off Campbell Station Road will be closed the week of July 20 through March 2010.

Access to Farragut Intermediate, Middle and High schools will be available from West End Avenue and Lendon Welch Way (formerly Stadium Drive) off Kingston Pike.

Town officials said traffic is expected to become very congested at all four Farragut schools when school resumes Aug. 17.

Knox County Schools is encouraging Farragut parents to consider using bus transportation for their students to eliminate extra car traffic. For more information on the bus routes to Farragut schools, visit

The Campbell Station Road Widening Project, which will take about 15 months to complete, will widen Campbell Station Road from the existing three-lane section to a five-lane section (two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane).

In addition, the project will include a 4-foot bike lane, curb and gutter, and a 5-foot sidewalk on each side. The project is being conducted by the Tennessee Department of Transportation and is funded by the Surface Transportation Program (part of the Federal Highway Administration SAFETEA-LU); Federal Highway Priority Project; and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (stimulus funds).

Routine project updates will be announced in Farragut’s local media, at and on the Town’s government cable channel (Charter and TDS Channel 3).

Citizens also are encouraged to receive updates via the Town’s Facebook page (town of Farragut) and Twitter (townoffarragut).

Contact the town of Farragut Engineering Department at 865-966-7057 with additional questions or concerns.
