Cookies by Design re-opens under new owners

Cookies by Design, 139 West End Ave., is under new ownership: Keith Wesolowski and wife, Virginia Vile, and members of her family.

“Who doesn’t want to sell cookies?” Wesolowski said, although he added the group stumbled into ownership through a serendipitous incident.

“We started off with Virginia’s twin sister as the recipient of a Cookies by Design bouquet,” Wesolowski said.

“She had gone in for surgery and had got a Cookies by Design bouquet as a kind of get well present.

“And it was just one of those things: it was such a beautiful bouquet and she really enjoyed the cookies, and … she thought this was such a cool product.

“We found out a few months later that the store was available and we figured this was a product and a business we wanted to be involved with,” he added.

The Wesolowski-Vile group became the owners in May.

Vile and her twin sister, Rebekah Johnston, “have always had this kind of cake and cookie decorating as a hobby of theirs,” Wesolowski said.

“It was a very convenient merger of a business that we believed in and home-grown hobbies that the girls have had for such a long time,” he added.

Cookie bouquets are the company’s flagship product, Wesolowski said, although the company also sells cookies on a stick, gourmet cookies and cookie cakes.

The cookie bouquets, offered in sugar cookie and cinnamon brown sugar flavors, can be from two to 15 cookies and can be designed for nearly any occasion.

“We can do pretty much any shape or size and we can even personalize it from your logo to your team colors,” Wesolowski said.

The shop has bouquets on display ranging from “Get Well Soon” bouquets to cookies depicting grilling utensils, dentistry images and The University of Tennessee and Farragut High School-themed cookies.

For its grand re-opening, the store has a number of specials and discounts on cookies on a stick and gourmet cookies.

The store is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays. For more information, call the store at 865-288-0707.
