Lakesedge retail construction underway in Turkey Creek

The next retail development in Turkey Creek is in the works, according to Andy Hillmer with Southern Commercial LLC.

Lakesedge Retail Develop-ment, a 20,000 square-foot complex, will be built at the corner of Parkside and Lakesedge drives, with entrances off both roads.

The development will feature as an anchor Newks Express Caf, which Hillmer described as sort of like a Panera [Bread] that serves alcohol.

You walk up, order and sit down and they bring it to you. But you can get beer and wine there and they have pizzas and all that good stuff, Hillmer said.

The Mississippi-based restaurant offers salads, pizzas, sandwiches and soups, according to its Web site, www.newkscafe.com

A Newks representative could not be reached by press time.

Hillmer said Southern Commercial was in negotiations for a handful of other tenants, but could not reveal those tenants until agreements had been made.

Tenant spaces largely will be determined by which tenants come to the complex, but Hillmer expects eight to 10 spaces.

Southern Commercial has created many of the complexes along Parkside Drive, including Pinnacle shopping center.

Hillmer said this development would not be a carbon copy of any of those developments, but would have a theme tying the building together.

It wont look like all our other shopping centers, but it will have a lot of similarities. Its the same architect that [designed] the other ones.

Hes going to probably stick to a lot of the same things, just different colors. It will be a nice looking shopping center, like the other ones out there, Hillmer said.

The architect is Architectural Services Group Inc.

Hillmer expects construction to be completed by the end of the year.
