Petco to open in Brooklawn Village

Petco has announced it will open its first store in the Knoxville-area market in Brooklawn Village Sept. 28.

“We’re excited about this because Knoxville is a new market for us,” Petco spokesperson Brooke Simon said.

“We haven’t really been in that area before, so we’re excited to reach new customers and be available to this new neighborhood that we’re reaching out to,” she added.

The store’s 13,000 square feet will feature a variety of pet care products, including natural and organic wares as well as pet styling and grooming services.

“It’s going to be a brand-new store and include a grooming salon and all our other features that our new stores have, like a natural food selection,” Simon said.

Petco partners with local veterinarians and animal rescue services.

“We don’t sell animals, dogs or cats in our stores, but we do always work with local animal rescue organizations to host adoptions.

“We hold adoptions at the store pretty regularly, and we also have an adoption kiosk that will help you easily access where you can adopt a pet locally,” Simon said.

Petco plans grand-opening festivities for Oct. 2-4, which most likely will include a pet adoption and a visit from Petco’s mascots.

“We normally have adoptions set up, as well as all kinds of different booths and activities for people to come out and see,” Simon said.
