Wreck-reation

- Alan Sloan/farragutpress
LCUB workmen repair a broken utility pole at the intersection of Peterson Road and Kingston Pike Tuesday, Aug. 11. According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, Harbis Belasquez allegedly drove westbound across three lanes of traffic then struck and broke an LCUB utility pole at the corner early Sunday, Aug. 2. Belasquez struck the utility pole, then continued west into the parking lot of Concord Veterinary Hospital, where he also struck a mailbox. Belasquez was driving a borrowed 2004 Ford Expedition belonging to Jose Rameiz of a Cedar Bluff address, which he exited, locked and abandoned at the scene. He did not report the crash or leave contact information. The owner of the vehicle contacted THP days later, reporting his missing vehicle, which had been towed and held. Belasquez could not be found or contacted. A spokesman for LCUB Crew 14 replacing the pole explained the time lapse between the accident and the pole being replaced routinely involves a “Tennessee One Call,” where such a site has to be examined for possible gas, water, sewer and cable damage.

The new pole was replaced and operational by Tuesday afternoon. Lenoir City Police Department assisted with traffic control.
