Farragut Chamber launches new Web site

Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce plans to launch its new Web site at www.farragutchamber.com

“It was time: we haven’t done this in quite some time. We’d been talking about it and have been working on it, and decided to go ahead and make it happen,” Chamber president and CEO Bettye Sisco said.

The site will be more user-friendly, Sisco said, since “people are more and more using the Internet. We thought it would make things easier if people [could] register for functions on-line.

“It will tell more about the Chamber, about the continuing education grant program that we offer,” as well as the mission and services of the Chamber, Sisco added.

Visitors can register for events such as brown bag luncheons, or even join the Chamber on-line.

The ever-popular networking events also have their own link, with a map to help Chamber members find their way to networking sites.

“It will have photos of the different events that we do, like the auction and other types as well,” Sisco said.

Chamber staff, ambassadors, board of directors and enterprise members all will easily be found on the new site, Sisco said.

Advertising opportunities for member businesses, and savings opportunities for local residents, will be available on the site.

“We’re working on a coupon program that would allow members of the Chamber to put a coupon on-line,” Sisco said.

The Web site also will feature local government contact information, as well as a listing of Chamber members, with links to businesses.

The site was designed by Abacus Arts Inc. Representatives of the company did not return phone calls.

Sisco prided the site on its local flavor: the home page features revolving photographs of area sights, such as Farragut’s parks and Knoxville icons.

The “Living Here” tab will feature quick facts about the area, a moving guide and even government and medical listing information.

“We will have a listing of hotels in the area, restaurants, arts, recreation and shopping,” Sisco said.
