State qualifier Gosselin, Arnold lead HVA boys golf; girls breaking new turf

While the Hardin Valley Academy boys golf team seems to have a strong one-two punch, the HVA Lady Hawks are breaking new links ground in 2009.

Wes Gosselin, HVA sophomore golfer, earned a Class AAA state tournament berth as a freshman last fall.

“He and Hunter Arnold [sophomore] shot around par last year as freshmen,” new HVA head coach Shane Chambers said. “Not only are they good golfers, they’re even better students and better people.”

Other Hawks looking to make an impact (pictured with girls team above) include seniors Charlie Burris and Dylan Salmons, who should be among the team’s top golfers according to Chambers.

Rounding out the HVA boys team is junior Michael Giblock, sophomores Chase Steele and Jake Townsend, and freshmen Tommy Cianciolo, Alex Schlosser and Adam Sturgeon.

Things are new on the HVA girls side.

Sophomore McCall Beckler, junior Liz Dobbins and freshman Abby Dukes “are the first three members of the Hardin Valley girls golf program, we didn’t have one last year,” Chambers said. “All three are hard workers and they have great character.”

Assistant coach is Melissa Rosloniec.
