Dream Katcher Lodge sponsors farragutpress pet photo contest

Dream Katcher Lodge, providing luxury accommodations for dogs and cats, is sponsoring farragutpress’ “Pick a Pet” photo contest.

“For Dream Katcher Lodge, sponsorship of the first Pick-A-Pet contest seemed like a ‘natural,’” Mili Bass, founder of Dream Katcher, said.

“Even though Lodge dog and cat guests come from all over East Tennessee, and beyond … as a veterinarian, I’ve been loving and caring for Farragut’s pets since 1982.

“It’s difficult to ‘Pick-A-Pet,’ because everyone’s pet is special. The true winners of the contest are each owner who submitted a picture of their four-legged family members and shared their love with readers throughout our community,” she added.

Dream Katcher Lodge is a luxury boarding facility for dogs and cats, located just off Kingston Pike behind Village Veterinary Clinic.

“We don’t have cages,” Bass said, adding she would never consider Dream Katcher a kennel.

Case in point, all the pets that stay at Dream Katcher are referred to as ‘guests,’ who have spaces reserved for them.

“For dogs, we have two wings of dog suites with a central courtyard with waterfall and koi pond,” Bass said.

“We have three different types of suites: standard cottages and courtyard cottages … and we also have bungalows,” she added.

Cottages are about eight-by-eight feet; courtyard cottages have a window with view of the courtyard. Bungalows are twice the size of cottages, and all have courtyard views and Internet cameras.

“All of our suites have color T-Vs and we keep them on Animal Planet,” Bass said.

In addition to being heated and air-conditioned, the suites have individual thermostats for floors, so they can be warmed to help geriatric dogs.

Dog guests are turned out four times a day, in a special area floored with canine grass, that allows for “individual potty times,” Bass said.

Dogs also are allowed to walk in the courtyard on a leash.

“For cats, we have multi-story lofts with hand-made four poster beds and private litter box areas for each of the guests,” Bass said.

Cats from the same family can share space in “Buffalo Fish Villa,” which also includes an Internet camera so families can see their pets.

Dream Katcher has been open five years at 11253 Kingston Pike. For more information, visit
