VolleyDogs go 5-5 among national field in Florida
Staff Reports - Thu, Sep, 10, 2009
Labeling her team's recent performance in Florida, "O-K," Bearden VolleyDogs head coach Jennifer Allen led her team to a 5-5 record during three days of play in the Kaylee Scholarship Association Tournament, Orlan-do, Fla., Sept. 3-5.
“We were in a really tough pool,” Allen said of a field that included teams from Texas, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Ken-tucky and Alabama in addition to Florida. “There's only one team we played that we didn't at least win a game off of.
“We beat some good teams — I was impressed with our competitiveness with teams all over the United States,” Allen added.
Individually, “I think early on Sloane [Gouffon, senior outside hitter] was tough," Allen said.
“And the last day, Tara [Robertson, junior middle hitter] was probably the strongest player.”
Bearden began this week with a 11-7 overall record.
