• Cheetah Lacrosse is conducting a one-day “Lacrosse-Just Try It Clinic” for area athletes from fourth grade through high school. Sessions will be organized by age and skill levels/experience to maximize player fun and success. The clinic will be conducted at Mayor Bob Leonard Park off Watt Road, field No. 3, Saturday Sept. 19. Times and fees posted on www.knoxlacrosse.com. Also, Cheetah Lacrosse conducts regular “Fall Ball” scrimmages Mondays/Wednesdays evenings in September and practices in October on Tuesday/Thursday evenings in preparation for two fall tournaments. • In memory of Jerry Hatmaker, Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc. & Allied Toyotalift will host the Annual Goodwill Golf Classic from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 19, at Holston Hills County Club. Tournament format is four-person scramble. Individual players will be grouped into teams based on handicaps. Registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 12. On the day of the tournament, players need to arrive at 10 a.m. to check-in; lunch will be provided at noon and prizes will be awarded directly after the tournament. • Town of Farragut Parks and Leisure Services Department invites community members to participate in Fall Kickball Tournament beginning at 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, at Mayor Bob Leonard Park off Watt Road. Open to participants 21 and older; consists of coed teams with eight to 12 players each. Each team guaranteed four games. Tournament limited to first eight teams registered. • Cadillac Invitational Golf Tournament benefiting the National Kidney Foundation of East Tennessee will be held at Holston Hills Country Club Monday, Sept. 28. This 18-hole best ball tournament includes putting, longest drive and closest to the pin, silent auction and dinner. Space still available. • Volley for A Cure, a professional-amateur mixed doubles tennis tournament benefiting the Knoxville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for The Cure [breast cancer], will be held beginning at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, at Fox Den Country Club. Nineteen male professional tennis players will be paired up with 19 female amateur tennis players in a round-robin tournament. Event is free and spectators are encouraged to come. • Dr. Tom Kim Charity Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Centennial Golf Course in Oak Ridge. Sponsors must submit team entries by Sept. 9 to play. Prizes include $25,000 in cash to the player (amateur only) who makes a hole-in-one on the designated par-3. First- and second-place teams will receive awards, with prizes going to players for longest drive and closest-to-the-hole. Proceeds benefit The Free Medical Clinic of America. • Third Annual St. Mary's Golf Tournament begins at noon, Oct. 8-10, at Centennial Golf Club with a 4-person scramble format. Individuals will be placed on a team. A putting contest begins at 11 a.m. Pictures with Pearl, head coach of Tennessee Volunteers men's basketball team, begin at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit March of Dimes Golf for Babies.
