Spartans dominate

Webb School of Knoxville pushed its way to a second shutout of the season Friday night, Sept. 11, at Webb’s own Faust Field.

The Spartans (3-0) dominated Halls (0-4) 42-0 as freshman Aaron Blance ran for a 95-yard touchdown on the opening kickoff.

Aaron scored his second TD of the game with 8:37 left in the second quarter following a 20-yard run by teammate Bryan Berube.

Running back Caleb Blance, who rushed for 100 yards on nine carries before being injured, scored after a seven-play drive late in the first quarter.

Senior wide receiver Clark Johnson caught a 23-yard pass from quarterback Parker Wormsley with 4:05 left in the second to put the Spartans up 28-0.

The final touchdown came with 3:10 left in the third quarter from running back Jim Dolinak.

“The whole team was playing for respect. Nobody thinks we are that good in Knoxville,” said senior standout defensive back Justin Alexander, who played an iron man game replacing Caleb Blance.

Dave Meske, Webb head coach, said he was “really happy with the way our defense is playing right now,” adding, “Our offensive line is playing really well.”

The Spartans’ next foe is at Franklin Road Academy, a Division II-A East-Middle Region contest in Middle Tennessee Friday, Sept. 18. Opening kickoff will be at 8 p.m., EDT, 7 p.m. CDT.
