FHS sweeps VolleyDogs in top-heavy 4-AAA
Alan Sloan - Thu, Sep, 24, 2009
District 4-AAA Volleyball became a front-running logjam after action at Bearden last week.
Farragut overcame the loss of two starters and swept archrival Bearden (25-22, 25-21) while also beating West (25-17, 25-12) Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Along with Knoxville Catholic’s straight games win versus the VolleyDogs, KCHS, Farragut and Bearden all stood at 4-2 in district. The Lady Ads improved to 22-6, while Bearden fell to 18-11.
Individually for FHS versus Bearden, “Kendall [Knisley] had a couple of big blocks when we had to have them there,” head coach David Moore said. “I thought Kassie [Detchemendy] was consistent, Kayla Hartman’s serving was key, kinda took them out of their offense, got us off to a good start.
“Kassie was swinging well, Paige [West] was swinging well. Kelsey [Bellich] made big plays. [Setter] Meghan [Glintenkamp] stepped in ... and she did a good job for us.”
