FHS cross country teams top six in TN Classic


Farragut High School boys and girls cross country teams had a top-six showing at the TN Classic held at Percy Warner Park in Nashville Sept. 19.

The FHS boys' team finished fifth in the gold division on a rain-saturated 5 km course that included top-rated teams from a multistate area among a 45-team field. That field also included Bearden and Hardin Valley.

Senior Kenta Nolin led Farragut by placing 17th (17:14). He was followed by teammates Zack Saunders (43rd/17:37), Zack Royster (47th/17:39), Conner Schwartz (50th/17:4) and Phil Stephens (89th/18:14).

Farragut's girls placed sixth in the gold division among a field of 44. Senior Alex Newby led with a fifth-place finish (20:03). She was followed by teammates Peri Winborne (27th.21:12), Anna Fraser (52nd/21:55), Hannah Chapman (86th/22:43) and Alexa Samry (109th/23:08).


Bearden placed 11th in the boys gold division, led by senior Tyler Freeman (21st/17:15), Kyle Walter (28th/17:25), Bryon Fitzsimmons (60th/17:53) and Peter Migun (65th/17:50).

Hardin Valley Academy, 28th as a boys team, was led by junior Jake Callela (116th/18:39).

Hardin Valley Academy placed 28th in girls gold with Bearden placing 34th.

HVA was led by Sadie Yinger (48th/21:47)

The Lady Bulldogs were led by freshman Tabitha Colter (153rd/24:05).
