• A team from Knox County will join recreational tennis teams from around the country to compete for a national title at USTA League 5.0 Women’s Adult National Championships in Indian Wells, Calif., Oct. 2-4.  Knox players are Kelli L. • East Tennessee’s top anglers are invited to test their fishing skills and compete for serious prize money next month. Top catch will win a $2,000 grand prize in the Breath of Life Support Foundation’s 2nd Annual Bass Fishing Tournament at Tellico Canal Saturday, Oct, 17.  The 1 Limit Bait Shop in Farragut will handle pre-registrations from 4 to 7 p.m., Oct. 16. • 2009 Never Stop Exploring Speaker Series is a nationwide tour to bring stories of six top The North Face Athlete Team members to life. • Third annual City of Knoxville CrossKnox 15K and 5K Walk begins at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 11, again traveling across Knoxville east to west. The 9.3-mile point-to-point race, run completely on greenways, begins at Alex Haley Statue in Morningside Park in East Knoxville and ends at Bearden Elementary School in West Knoxville. • Fourth Annual ESK 5-K Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, in Cove subdivision in Turkey Creek. Divisions for male and female runners are: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
