• Stephanie Harris, Farragut High School Softball All-state first baseman, has made a college commitment to the University of Virginia according to FHS Softball head coach David Moore.

• Wes Gosselin, Hardin Valley Academy sophomore standout golfer, finished tied for 15th (153) during the 2009 TSSAA Class AAA state tournament Sept. 29-30 at Old Fort Golf Course in Mufreesboro. While Gosselin is a two-time state qualifier, his HVA teammate, sophomore Hunter Arnold, qualified in 2009 and shot 155.

• Clark Wormsley, Webb School of Knoxville Spartans varsity baseball coach, football offensive coordinator and middle school dean of students, is among six former Lincoln Memorial University student-athletes recently inducted into LMU’s Athletes Hall of Fame 2009. Rewarded for his student-athletic career at LMU beginning in 1979, Wormsley was inducted during a Saturday morning, Oct. 10, ceremony in Tex Turner Arena on the LMU campus in Harrogate. A four-year starter for the Railsplitters’ baseball team, Wormsley was named a two-time All-Volunteer State Athletic Conference Team honoree and was selected to LMU’s Dean’s List. Wormsley improved upon a roughly .295 career batting average after two years and, as a junior, hit a sizzling .351 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI.

• Free lacrosse clinic for boys in grades 3-8 from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday., Nov. 7, at Farragut Middle School lacrosse field (behind FMS).  Players and coaches from Farragut High School will provide demonstrations and instruction.  Lacrosse sticks provided.
