PTA’s fall clothing drive extended

The Knox area clothing center for students is largely dependant on clothing drives conducted by the area schools’ PTA.

In an effort to boost donations, the deadline was extended for the clothing drives at all Farragut schools.

“It’s for Knox County School’s/PTA Clothing Center,” Deborah Dickerson, citizenship chairman responsible for many of Farragut Intermediate School’s community outreaches, said.

“It’s not uncommon for this to happen. Last year it was extended also. People just need a little more time to get items together,” she said.

The KCS clothing drive happens bi-annually in the spring and fall.

Gently used items for preschoolers through adults are requested. They do ask that no used underwear, socks or shoes be donated.

Students in need of clothing, shoes or other items are asked to contact the center and schedule an appointment, at 865-594-3791.

For those not able to make the school’s deadline, Friday, Nov 6, items may be donated downtown from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 1000 N. Central Ave., Knoxville.
