Ferowich, Thompson go 1-2, lead Irish to CC state No. 2
Bearden’s Stover also All-state with No. 9 finish


Led by Megan Ferowich’s runaway individual state championship effort, and teammate Joanna Thompson’s second-place finish, Knoxville Catholic took second at the TSSAA Class AAA state meet Saturday, Nov. 7.

The Lady Irish finished No. 2 behind champ Oak Ridge (67-102) at Percy Warner State Park Steeplechase Course in Nashville.


Ferowich, a blistering 17:47.76, and Thompson (19:16.69) were All-state honorees, followed by teammates Elyse Eilerman (42nd), Stephanie Windle (43rd) and Rebecca Sauter (46th).

Bearden’s Rebecca Stover also earned All-state by finishing ninth (20:09.89). Farragut, No. 7 as a team, was led by Alex Newby (24th), Peri Winborne (31st) and Ciera Karvelas (52nd).

Boys in the top 60 were led by Hardin Valley Academy’s Will Templeton (24th), followed by Zack Royster of FHS (31st), Tyler Freeman (38th) and Peter Migun (40th) of BHS, and Admirals Kyle Branson (45th), Zach Saunders (51st), Conner Schwartz (53rd) and Kenta Nolin (60th).

In Class A-AA, CAK’s girls were led by Alison Burg (23rd) and Abby Holt (27th).
