Safety Smart to close in December

Safety Smart, 10412 Kingston Pike, will close at the end of December.
The store, which sells personal and residential safety items, is having a clearance sale until Dec. 31, featuring all items at 25 to 75 percent discounts.
“We are thankful and appreciative of your support over the past two years; however, the time has come to close our doors and move forward to new endeavors,” owner Tommy Aydelott said in an e-mail.
In a later phone interview, Aydelott said, “We figured that we’re growing, but not fast enough to feed the family.
“Things are going quickly,” he added of the clearance sale.
Aydelott said customers could check out items in-store or at www.safetysmart.biz, and call the store for prices.
Items cannot be ordered via the Web site because stock is limited.
“I’ve taken everything that was in the back room and moved it out to the floor,” Aydelott said.
Aydelott said he was not sure what the future held for him.
“We live here, our kids are all here in college, so no, I don’t have a position yet,” he said.
