Go Nutrition celebrates 10 years

Go Nutrition, 10961 Kingston Pike, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Farragut.

“The mission was always to make natural foods and supplements affordable to the average person because they always tend to be higher priced than the stuff you would find in the grocery store,” Go Nutrition co-owner Joe DeFranco said.

“So we’ve been a discount store from the very beginning,” he added.

The store carries nutritional supplements with natural and organic dry groceries, beauty products and other items.

“As far as supplements go, we by far have the largest selection in Town: everything from basic vitamins and minerals to anything cutting-edge,” DeFranco said.

The store does not carry meat or produce, or some perishable items.

“We do specialize in gluten-free products in our grocery section,” DeFranco said. Gluten-free items are marked by pink tags to make shopping easy.

Go Nutrition also offers a unique program to customers who buy large quantities of natural or organic groceries: grocery and organic produce clubs.

Through the clubs, customers can buy these products by the case via pre-order.

“That’s at least as cheap as conventional products and sometimes cheaper,” DeFranco said.

“It’s by the far the most economic way of buying this,” he added.

DeFranco said Go Nutrition was founded to fill a hole in the Knoxville market: 10 years ago, there were few natural stores, and none in Farragut.

Go Nutrition prides itself on being customer-friendly.

“We’ve always tried to be as full-service as possible, meaning we actually have people who know and use the products,” DeFranco said.

“So somebody should be able to come in here anytime and find somebody who can help them.

“People who are looking for one-on-one service absolutely love us. … And people who are looking for the best price absolutely love us,” he added.

The focus of the store is not dieting or one-time commitments.

“Most health food stores focus on diet, diet, diet,” DeFranco said.

“We prefer to keep the focus on good health year-round,” he added.

DeFranco is part owner of Go Nutrition with Nick Saliba, also owner of www.a1supp-lements.com, and Ken Turner, also owner of Community Pharmacy.

Go Nutrition is open from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
