BOMA approves snow removal schedule

Farragut’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the 2009-2010 snow schedule Thursday, Dec. 10.

“Now all we need is the snow,” Alderman Jeff Elliott joked.

The Town has four snowplow trucks, Public Works Director Bud McKelvey said.

The trucks will clear snow from local streets based on a first priority and second priority list, he added.

There are 81 streets on the first priority list, including Campbell Station Road, West End Avenue and the school entrances, Parkside Drive, Municipal Center Drive, Grigsby Chapel and Smith roads and Watt Road.

Also included are Old Stage Road, Jamestown Boulevard, Everett Road, Turkey Creek Road, Virtue Road, McFee Road, Sugarwood Drive, Fox Den Drive, Union Road, Sonja Drive, Admiral Drive, Herron Road and Old Colony Parkway.

“Hills and north-facing streets are among the priority,” McKelvey said.

Kingston Pike and Concord Road are State roads, and will be cleared by TDOT.

Public Works crews will work around the clock to ensure roads are cleared, McKelvey said.

The crews will continue to work on first priority streets until they are cleared and remain clear. In other words, if it keeps snowing, crews will keep working on those first priority streets.

Second priority streets including smaller and neighborhood roads, including St. John Court, Wyndham Hall Lane, Lady Slipper Lane, Rockwell Farm lane, Allen Kirby Road, Mountain View Road, Glen Abbey Boulevard, Woodcliff Drive, Harrow Road, West Kingsgate Road and Boring Road.
