Turn in box tops, get free breakfast
Help Farragut schools and receive a free Chick-fil-A breakfast item

Turning in box tops puts money in the pockets of Farragut schools and works as a coupon for free breakfast items at Chick-fil-A Thursdays during January and February.

Stop by Chick-fil-A any Thursday in January and February, turn in your box tops, and receive a free breakfast item.

For each box top, 10 cents is donated to area schools by Box Tops for Education.

Box tops can be found on more than cereal boxes. Brownie and cake mixes, school supplies, snacks and disposable tableware may also have box tops.

According to www.boxtops4 education.com, Farragut area schools have individually earned up to $4,500 through the program.

Box top donations have raised more than $300 million to help schools nationwide since 1996.

Farragut Primary School has earned $2,001 for the 2009-2010 school year. Its goal for this year is $3,763. Last year it earned $3,135.

Farragut Intermediate School has earned $344 for the 2009-2010 school year. Its goal for this year is $1,108. Last year, it earned $923.

Farragut Middle School has not earned funds from box tops so far this year.

A. L. Lotts Elementary School has earned $688 for the 2009-2010 school year. Its goal for the current year is $5,451. The previous year, Lotts earned $4,542 and leads all schools with the most earning within 25 miles of the 37934 zip code. Lotts is ranked as the sixth top earner for the state of Tennessee based on last year’s success.

As mentioned in an earlier school relations committee story, FMS, FIS and FPS are in need of items as simple as paper. Turning in box tops helps meet needs that arise throughout a school year.

The schedule of breakfast items to be given free with a box top donation is Jan. 14: cinnamon cluster; Jan. 21: sausage biscuit, Jan. 28: yogurt parfait; Feb. 4: chick-n-minis (three-count); Feb 11: chicken, egg and cheese on sunflower multigrain bagel; Feb. 18: yogurt parfait and Feb. 25: chicken biscuit.

Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. as Turkey Creek, Kingston Overlook Chick-fil-A and all other Knoxville Chick-fil-A locations are participating. No purchase is necessary in conjunction with the box tops. There is a limit of one free item per customer per day.

Box top earnings will be divided among Farragut area and other area public and private Knox County schools.
