• Farragut Middle School softball is looking for 12-and-under girls fastpitch softball players for a local 12U travel team. Primarily local travel. For more information, call 865-919-8504.

• Covenant Health fitness expert Missy Kane will lead a “Get on Track/Couch to 5k” training program at West Town Mall starting Feb. 3. Kane will “fast walk” at the mall Wednesday mornings and is encouraging participants to use the program to train for the 5k in the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon, featuring a finish along the 50-yard line in Neyland Stadium. • Knoxville Track & Field Club has set up a Post Collegiate Scholarship Fund for local athletes striving to compete on a competitive level. Ten scholarships will be given per year for $500 each. Two yearly deadlines for applications: March 1 and Sept. 1. Scholarships will be announced April 1 and Oct. 1. Athletes may only apply for scholarships once per year. To receive a scholarship, athletes must be a U.S. citizen and a Knoxville resident. Applications will be judged on merit based on an essay and application. All athletes receiving scholarship funding will be required to volunteer for at least one Knoxville Track Club event. To receive an application, visit KTC Web site at www.ktc.org. • City of Knoxville’s youth basketball leagues still are open for signups. Boys and girls ages 7-14 can register. League games are played weekly through February and held in City recreation centers and school gymnasiums. League entry fees vary, depending on commissions.
