Mercy announces area hospital name changes Staff Reports - Thu, Feb, 11, 2010
Mercy Health Partners unveiled new names and signs for its Metro Knoxville area hospitals, Thursday, Feb. 4.
The re-branding is the next step in bringing all facilities under the Mercy name, following the merger of Baptist and St. Mary’s in 2008, said Jeff Ashin, COO of Mercy Metro Division.
“Bringing all our facilities under the Mercy name is an important milestone for this organization, symbolizing the fact that we are truly becoming a unified ministry with one mission and a shared set of core values,” Ashin said.
Baptist Hospital West will be renamed Mercy Medical Center West by the end of February. The newly constructed Mercy Surgery Center West already carries the Mercy name. The Baptist Hospital for Women name will be dropped.
“I want to thank all our associates for the great work they have done in blending two organizations after the merger.
“This next step helps to unite us as one organization dedicated to our mission as a healing ministry of Jesus,” Ashin said.
Other Mercy names in Scott, Campbell, Cocke and Jefferson counties will begin later in 2010.
