A sea of American flags, each individual flag representing an American life lost in Iraq and Afghanistan, is making its way across the United States.
Locally, Parkway Presbyterian Church off Dutchtown Road is hosting the tribute, which is comprised of more than 5,300 flags — 46 of which represent Tennesseans lost in the Middle East conflict. The “Field of Flags” tribute originated Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at Somers Congregational Church in Somers, Conn.
