CCA celebrates 10th anniversary

Crossroads Christian Academy is celebrating its 10th anniversary; what started as Crossroads Christian Co-op with just a few parents has grown into a school with the best of both worlds.

It is not an ordinary school. Crossroads Christian Academy, pre-K through 12th grade, is where private Christian school meets home school. For pre-k through eighth-graders, CCA offers on-campus instruction by qualified Christian teachers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The high school students, 9th- through 12th-grades, study on campus Tuesdays through Fridays. For home study days (Mondays and Fridays), lesson plans and materials needed are sent home with the students.

This unique educational approach allows parents to be more “hands on” and allows more time for students to pursue their own interests.

CCA has come a long way in just 10 years. Starting in 2000, with 26 students meeting in a church building, teachers and students had to bring classroom supplies in and out everyday. As CCA continued to grow, it had to change buildings, until three years ago.

A permanent home was found in the former Highland Hills School building located just outside Farragut in Lenoir City. This building has enabled CCA to offer its students a library, computer lab, art room, science lab, auditorium and playground.

It has also expanded from a “core subject” curriculum to offering electives such as art, drama, music, computer, business, media and foreign language.

CCA also has several sports teams.

For the first time this year, the school is offering a foreign mission trip for middle and high school students, parents and teachers. They are working hard to prepare drama and music presentations to perform in the public schools of Jamaica.

About 6 years ago, Crossroads Christian Co-op was renamed Crossroads Christian Academy.

Crossroads Christian Academy is located at 1963 Martel Road, Lenoir City.
