FPS retirement ...

Long-time Farragut Primary School library staff members said goodbye to students, teachers and parents at a retirement party Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the FPS library. Librarian Margaret Rogers, left, has served Knox County for 40 years, with 20 years at FPS. Sue Adams, right, has been a library secretary for 23 years, with 15 of those years at FPS. “We could not have done this without our volunteers,” Adams said. The duo began Finley’s Reading Club, which helped catapult the FPS library as the Knox County School library with the largest circulation – more books are checked out there than any other Knox County School. Rogers wrote a grant in 1998 to start Finley’s Reading Club and buy six computers for the students. PTA and community support are who the librarians thank for their success.
