Hundreds of families turned out to enjoy Celebrate the Season, Town of Farragut’s annual Christmas showcase, which took place Thursday, Dec. 1, in Farragut Community Center.

“The event went really well,” said Merritt Piper, Town Recreation and Event manager. “The event was a great way to kick off the holiday season and spread cheer.”

She estimated about 300 of the 550 attendees were children, who gathered around crafts tables to make reindeer and owl crafts, decorate cookies, watch a holiday Disney movie and snack on cookies, which they washed down with punch.

However, the main attraction was a photo with Santa, as children — and some family members — came early to line up for their chance to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas. They also wrote and decorated letters to Santa at a letter-writing station.

Sponsor was Farragut Arts & Beautification Committee.
